Media evaluation question 3

Question 6 - media evaluation

Question 6 – media evaluation

Strengths –
One key fact in the media industry is that there is a mass of technology to assist directors or young film makers like myself but also that the level of ability of this technology is becoming ever more phenomenal which gives people in the industry opportunity to create their wildest dreams come to life. The technology that assisted my filmmaking opportunity was very useful although there is software that is a lot more advanced however at my level software like Adobe Premier which I used to edit my film from start to finish and worked rather well but also things such as Adobe AfterEffects which I used to create a animated moving main title. These two pieces of equipment are commonly used across the industry but other software is also very popular such as Final Cut Pro for apple products, Sony movie studio HD and the Corel editing suite, Alongside animation software like Blender 3D and Maya. There are also thousands of  other technologies and Hardware in the industry like cameras for example the Cannon 700D digital DSLR camera that I used to film my short film , Microphones like the RODE portable microphone I used for an sound boost while filming ,  Computers like the Apple MacBook  or IMac  but there are also technology that I used to upload my Pre-production work such as Prezi or SlideShare.

Weaknesses –

Some of the weaknesses I encountered when creating my film was the lack of knowledge with certain software such as Adobe AfterEffects where having some more expertise would have been really useful and could have made it less time consuming. Another weakness I encountered was the level of wind picked up in my original filming because of the microphone I used was quite powerful and led to me having to re-film lots of my film. Once more another weakness I stumbled apon was the incompetence of Blogger when I tried to complete some of my Pre-production work on there instead of word which lead to more time wasting due to me trying to work around its ineptitude.

Opportunity’s-

There are many opportunities to create amazing film in this day and age even with my level of understanding, budget, time and knowledge. The software we had as a school was good (Adobe master suite featuring Adobe Premier , Adobe AfterEffects and Adobe Photoshop) and very useful although be it not state of the art is was perfectly fine for the job and the Hardware ( Cannon camera’s , computers and sound equipment) worked really well and other than a small error with the sound which was part my fault the overall quality was good. Other opportunities we had was the fact that we live in the New Forest which is expansive and beautiful and is therefore great for filmmaking however I personally did not use that to my advantage because my film was all done in urban areas.

Threats-
I think the main threat as far as technology is concerned is that there would have been a mixed knowledge ability in the group so that there would be people who definitely knew more than me with Software such as Adobe Premier and Adobe AfterEffects giving them a further reach of them achieving there desired outcome.

Story board - WOLF

Made with Storyboard That

This is my story board for WOLF , in which it is showing the different shots from the shot list other than in the last shot it should be a gun instead of a baseball bat.
