Crime/Thriller can
often have a very similar successful opening convention, It can often include
an opening shot of main characters in discussion then some small humour
followed by an action sequence.
-These
are the opening scenes to Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels and Pulp Fiction. Both of which include
main characters and some dialogue. Some
small talk that initially engages the audience.
I chose these two films because they both have quite a significant cult following because of how well they were both created/filmed and written but they both follow a similar opening , it starts with a few characters in humorous small talk before then exploding into an action sequence. I found that in both of these films that way of writing/filming worked really well and was engaging to watch for the audience , this was also a good way of finding out key points of how the film is going to be shot before its properly started. Lock, Stock and Two smoking barrells shows that it is going to be a very British , humorous and London based crime film whereas in Pulp Fiction from the opening sequence you can for see that it is going to be stylish , funny but a lot more american and violent.
-
-the film then engages with some small quick
humour to keep the audience enticed.

- The film then can often have a
visually capturing action sequence to finish it before the credits start.
